A longtime leader in the pneumatic nailer industry, Senco has encountered tough competition from other brands in recent years. Showing they're up to the challenge, Senco recently redesigned much of their line, including their finish nailers. The SFN30 is a lightweight gun (only 3.6 pounds) and comes with a comfortable rubber grip, making it an easy gun to work with all day without suffering hand/arm fatigue. It fires 15-gauge finish nails ranging from 1 to 2 inches in length. Using the depth-of-drive adjustment, we were able to achieve a uniform countersink with every shot. We really appreciate Senco's Neverlube design, which requires no oiling and eliminates the chance of getting oil overspray on the woodwork--it's a great innovation that the competition (to remain competitive) will have to pick up on soon. The SFN30 comes with a no-mar safety tip and allows you full access to the firing chamber to clear jams should the need arise (it didn't in our tests). There's also a handy built-in belt hook. While most Senco nailers come with an adjustable exhaust port, this model doesn't, a bit of a disappointment. It's an undeniably good solid finish nailer, though; with its Neverlube design, Senco continues to set the industry standard. --Brian Trinen
